Violettes Lock Loop - Sun, 25 June 2017 @ 3.35 ft
Author Last Post
!3 boats, 14 people, Lots of young - all in the Panning family - no swims - a good time had by all on a near perfect day - sunny, w/ temps in the high 70s, conditions that brought out an unusually large group.   We were Tom Panning and three boys of 10 or so , Barb, Kathleen, Paul Schneider, Doug, Ken Durr, Beth Koller, Bill Carr, Mark Wray, Mark Parker, and Alf.   Barb and Beth started the instruction from the get-go, checking the boys' strokes then leading them down the successive rapids to the last one, where they had the boys read the water and take it from there.
The log-jam at the entrance to the GW Canal, after clean-out by Calleva two weeks ago, has had new logs float into it from right and left, so another cutting out will be needed soon.  It was difficult as it was with a couple of boats getting stuck on it.  At the lbottom of the canal, about half the crew went on down to Pennyfield, where Mark and Mark had put a shuttle car for those who so desired.  Fun to get in on some of the instruction - sorry to have to miss it next week.
