Attaining Mather - Thurs, 23 Feb 2017

Lisa and I attained Mather Gorge on a beautiful (May-like) afternoon with a river level of 3.52 and an air temp. of 70+. The attainment of Wet Bottom was relatively easy and we continued up on the Maryland side to the big eddy where CCA races start and then crossed over to the Virginia side. The approach to the front wave at Rocky was relatively easy and the wave was surfable for long boats. I was paddling a modified race boat and Lisa was paddling a 10 ft. boat. After playing for a while at Rocky we headed downstream and came across a guy paddling a Pirouette who was getting an endless surf at Wet Bottom. We were happy to start the Thursday group trips on such a warm, sunny day.
